Take your child to work day? Ideas?

I have to organize some activities for children and do not have the budget this year for this event. I was wondering if anyone had good ideas that are not cost to keep the kids busy all day. The age range is 6-15. Any help will be big! We work in test and measurement of electronic signals. Pretty confusing stuff. We are home to U.S. so it is mainly office work. We also have a laboratory, where work on the test and measurement equipment. We're doing the movie, cake, and pizza things. I'm talking about more activities. Other things that cost are too low to keep them busy. They, after all be here 8 hours. All fresh as arts and crafts ideas? Something new, but keep your attention.

I'm making a wild shot here. ideas will have to modify according to their own designs and concepts from .... You are in test and measurement, can get children to make a basic model of how to transmit or receive electronic signals - something that can be conjured from the very basic things at home? or how about making matchbox or tin can phones - just join a string and children may speak in the halls of this. or develop the tools measurement as this rule, rope, clips, etc etc and get that measuring given lengths, etc. - even something comparative.
