I had a consultation on the production of pale colors and thought it would be a good idea to discuss this issue in an article.

There are a couple of ways to obtain a paler color when you are painting. These colors are usually pale to the abovementioned areas or areas where light is hitting the object that is painting.

1. You can paint a thin coat of paint and let the white shows through the paint surface. This works well while being painted on a pale surface. In general terms will be.

2. You can add color to white to a pale version of it, called a tint. This works fine, except when you try it with red. Adding white to red, will pink, which is probably not what you wanted! This was the main point the question I received.

Highlights using Red

When you are painting on a white surface Can I paint the target area of relief, let dry, then paint on a thin layer of red to achieve the same effect as in point 1 above. (This work with other colors too.)

If you are trying to add a touch of light, for example, an area already painted then let dry paint before adding a thin layer of white to the surface for the highlight. Use a mixture is very watery, if you want some of the red to show through. White is a color opaque acrylics and the area can seem a bit if the white chalk is applied too thick.

An alternative method is to apply additional layers of red to the darkest areas of the object. By adding additional layers of paint, the color is richer and deeper. These color richer areas will increase the relief effect in the area with only one coat of paint.

Try this on a spare piece of paper, is a very good effect. The area has just highlight the layer paint, and the center and darker areas that have more layers of paint to give richer color.

If you're adding color tones of shadow red, so you will be able to achieve good results.

The red shade to shade depends on what you are painting. It could be purple made by adding some blue. However, if you wanted a more neutral look try adding some complementary color (green to red would be) to stop color to down.
