Encyclopedia Of Crochet And Knit Stitches
Posted in Knit & Crochet on 02/07/2009 02:24 am by adminOne of the most confusing aspects of embroidery is the definition of various terms used in sewing. The term "needle" is the term most used to describe any form of creative effort working with a needle. Among the many varieties of needlework exists the term "needle" but we get that in a moment ... embroidery, quilting, as carpet weaving and crocheting are also covered under the enormous umbrella of the word "needle". In this article, let's talk about embroidery, embroidery and tapestries.
First of all, let us get tapestry of the road. The term "Tapestry" is often misused in relation with embroidery and embroidery. This is not a form of needle. It is, however, a form of "textiles" art. Tapestry is a woven fabric, created by hand or machine. The design has been created through an intricate process of weaving. Needlepoint and embroidery works are often confused with tapestry work because the finished products resemble each yes. In simple terms, embroidery and embroidery is worked on canvas or fabric, while the upholstery is cloth.
We turn now to embroider. Embroidery is the art of embellishing or decorating fabrics. Almost any fabric can be embroidered. The two most common materials for embroidery are cotton or linen. Throughout the centuries, clothing, furniture and a variety of other everyday items have been embroidered. Almost any type of yarn can be used for embroidery, flossing is the most common. Believe it or not - in the past human hair was used to embroider. Personally, I prefer to keep my hair attached to the head and floss embroidery for my projects. Often, objects can be embroidered on a piece. Decorative stones, beads or shells can be worked into a fabric with embroidery. Until the 19th century embroidery was called "work canvas. "During the 16th, 17th and 18th century the term" petit point "is commonly used to describe the embroidery. Today, petit point, refers to the needle that is worked on canvas is 16 mesh or smaller. There are two different classification methods of embroidery. The first method is divided into two groups embroidery: embroidery surface and, as mentioned above, the work of canvas. Embroidery area covers any design that works on top of the fabric. Canvas work is any design that is stitched into the canvas. These two terms are very broad and not very enlightening. I prefer the second method of classification of embroidery. The second method is divided into two sets of embroidery that are easier to understand: counted thread embroidery and free embroidery. Counted thread embroidery is any piece who worked with a predetermined pattern. The model can be printed on the fabric or not. Counted cross stitch and embroidery are the two common types of counted thread embroidery. Yes, I said embroidery is a form of embroidery. I will get to that in a moment ... Free embroidery is a form of embroidery that does not care about the fabric foundation. A piece of embroidery free working regardless or design. Each point is placed independently, hence the name. Crewel work is an excellent example of free embroidery.
By Finally, we come to the needle. What is the needle? Embroidery, as I said before is a form of embroidery. Remember, the embroidery is commonly referred to as "work canvas "before the 19th century. Today, the work of cloth called a needle. While The embroidery is worked on canvas or linen, embroidery is worked primarily on canvas. Wool yarn is used for embroidery sewing projects. Needlepoint stitches are "patterns" stitches. That is, points that have been pre-determined spot patterns. There are literally hundreds of points of embroidery. Many of these stitches began as embroidery and points have been adjusted for canvas embroidery. Some points of embroidery most common are: cross stitch, Bargello, Gobelins point, Basketweave, point-of-store, point of Continental, the new point, point in the chain, from point diagonally. These are just some of the embroidery stitches available today. For a complete list of these stitches with instructions and diagrams, visit Stitchopedia .... A free embroidery points.
These are the definitions of tapestry, embroidery and embroidery in the simplest of terms. Basically, the tapestry weaving the design into a fabric, making it the fabric itself. Embroidery is the art of embellishing and decorating existing fabric. Embroidery is the art work in fabric design. Whatever the type of needle you choose to participate in, all have the ability to give many hours of creative enjoyment for you.
