There is always a master of your youth that sticks in your mind. A person who went further and not only taught ... but touched. This teacher for me was Ms. Allen. Gray hair and pointed chin, Ms. Allen was loved at the time that was fulfilled.

She taught us everything we needed to know about education ... and then she taught us to do all sorts of fun crafts, Christmas crafts to Easter crafts just-for-fun crafts. We have done things popsicle sticks, glitter, glue and crayons. We have learned that we can invent at 9 years old! The sky was the limit, and every day held a new adventure. I remember a kind of vessels still in my possession more than 20 years later.

The morning was particularly cold, even for northern Utah. The snow was high and Christmas was coming! My mom sent me to school that day with a thumbnail-sized image of myself. A freckled little girl, I had never thought of myself as beautiful. As I have stated that although photo, I remember the feeling of pride at how well my photos school had resulted from that year. I was anxious to take to school for any project that were attacking another.

After completing our work daily, Ms. Allen gave us a ball of white foam about the size of a softball. Then we asked our favorite Christmas colors. Mine were most definitely red and silver this year. Two bags of neat red and silver sequins is then placed on my desk. At that age, anything that sparkled caught my full attention! Mrs. Allen then told us he would do a Christmas ornament to take several days to complete.

Every day I would come to school, so eager to continue working in my office. Use little silver pins, neatly remember each of sequins in my foam ball. I had come with a great idea for a pattern and could not wait to see it. When I got half of the ball, Ms. Allen gently helped me pin my picture in miniature of the school in front. After that sequins end was launched, we wrapped in tissue paper to present to our parents. There was never a little girl proud that I, that day.

Ms. Allen added package with children and the children loved Ms. Allen because of it. My ornament, beaten with time, you still have my small school picture carefully placed at the front. I do not remember much of what is taught that year, but I do remember Ms. Allen teaches us to do crafts. His passion for art and the use of imagination caught a girl and has stuck with her through the years.
